Week of January 16

I hope everyone enjoys a day off on Monday! :) We have briefly discussed Martin Luther King, Jr. and will continue to do so this week. Also, in Social Studies we are beginning a unit on maps.

In Reading, the high frequency words are done, know, push, visit, and wait. The phonics skills are the rest of the r-controlled vowels er, ir, and ur. We will review contractions and learn some new ones: 's, 've, and 're. We will also be talking about life cycles as the story is about a caterpillar turning into a butterfly. :)

In math we will be finishing up Unit 5. We will continue with "what's my rule" problems, review for the test and take the test this week.

On Friday, we have our mini-field trip to the Middle School to hear the Swing Choir. Don't forget to return your permission slips!
