This week is short but sweet. Winter Break starts Tuesday at 2:00! Don't forget that school is one hour early out on Tuesday!
This week there is no homework and no spelling. We will be doing holiday activities and fun!
On Tuesday we will have pajama day and have a fun time drinking hot chocolate and watching the Grinch!
I hope everyone has a super winter break! School resumes Tuesday January 3rd! :)

Week of December 12
There are only 7 more school days until winter break! Can you believe it?! I can't! Wow!
We will be busy, busy, busy until then.
In Social Studies we will be learning about Christmas this week.
In Math we are starting Unit 5. We will be learning about place value and greater than and less than.
In Reading we will be learning about compound words, the -nk and -ng endings, and punctuation. The high frequency words are: own, ever, sure, were, enough, every, and any.
Friday is hat day, I will be sending more info via email later in the week. Friday is also the last Secret Santa shopping day.

Week of November 5
This week we will be learning about Kwanzaa in Social Studies.
In reading we are starting unit 3. We are learning about CV (consonant vowel) words. (ie go, hi) and the letter y as a vowel. The high frequency words are things, everything, stays, nothing, become, day, and always. We are learning about verbs.
In math we are learning about "Fact Power" or doing addition facts without using a number line (quick recall). We will be reviewing and taking our unit 4 test on Friday.
Wednesday is an early out day. Dismissal is at noon.

Week of November 28
I hope everyone had a safe, fun, and delicious Thanksgiving. I hope everyone enjoyed all your children's hard work on their Thanksgiving writing and crafts! They did a great job! :)
This week we are finally back into normal routine. Since it is the month of December this week we have a new author of the month. This month, instead of a traditional author, it will be holiday books. We will read one a day until the winter break (can you believe it is only 18 school days away!)
In social studies, we will be learning about Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and Christmas and completing crafts and activities for each winter holiday. It should be a fun 18 days until break!
This week we will be reading "Honey Bees" in our reading curriculum. The phonics skill is long e with one and two e's (i.e. we and seed). We will also be reading longer words by splitting it into smaller pieces (i.e. tablet--tab+let). We will also be reviewing syllables, nouns, -ed words, long u, and long e words.
The high frequency words are some, family, also, new, other, and their. We are done with every word on the unit 2 list, so please practice at home!!
We will be taking our unit 2 benchmark test, as well on Friday.

This week is a short week! It will be full of pilgrims, turkeys, and fun!!

Week of November 7
It's conference week! There are only two days of school! Enjoy your fall break! I am excited to meet with everyone at conferences!
This week we don't have our "regular" curriculum, as it is a short week.
In math we will be doing candy corn activities and reviewing for and taking our unit 3 test.
In reading we will be doing lots of reading and writing about fall, turkeys, and veterans.
